DVD Nightmare!

We used to boast a huge DVD collection. The cases are missing DVD’s and games and the DVD’s are missing cases. Note the scratches on the DVD’s, this is on every single disk. This started after child number 2. I now have 3 children. I wish I knew about this site years ago. I have hundreds of stories

    This is why I rip and make backup copies of every disc my kids have access to. If they screw up a copy, no big deal. Re-rip the disc, make them a new copy. Originals are untouched.

    I took all DVD’s out of their cases, put them in a large CD zipper case, and put it up where kids can’t reach. Voila!

    My son, then 3, stood on the balcony and through the dvd’s over the rail like Frisbees. That was fun. Bought a better lock for the sliding door, and learned how to hold it longer. He was required to sit at the bathroom door and drum his fingers on it while I went from then on.

    oh my, that is our collection too!!!! down to a T! five kids oldest one is 12 and not one movie has survived.

    When worked at a Blockbuster movie store, we used to get back DVDs from certain families that were actually sticky with maple syrup.  Once a bunch of Dora disks cam back covered in PB+J, I had to saok them  in hot soapy water fro several hours to get it off.

    i have lots of the same at my house,it really sucks when the movie happens to be one of your favorites.The most painful loss was quest for camelot.

    i have countless scratched and ruined movies.i remember buying each one and cringing at the price.My most painful loss was quest for camelot.they sell scratch remover for movies but sometimes the movie is beyond repair and you end up throwing it away.i’ve decided to wait till i’m old and grey to buy and watch those movies again.if kids want to watch movies they can watch them on cable.

      I hope you haven’t gotten rid of those scratched up DVDs yet because the other day on The Revolution Ty Pennington shared a great tip for removing scratches from your DVDs. Heres that tip “For scratched-up DVDs, use peanut butter! It seems weird but it’s true. The oiliness and stickiness of peanut butter (CREAMY peanut butter, not crunchy!) will smooth out a scratched-up disc. Just apply a small bit of PB to a cotton cloth and gently buff the disc, rubbing in straight lines from the inner part of the disc outward. Be sure not to rub in circles or follow the scratch lines!”. I hope that helps you.

    Tell the kid(s) to put them back in their respective cases. Same goes for CDs, cassettes, etc. Especially if the kids can read. Makes repeat performances less likely.

    As above give a nice post. It give a batter collection of new DVD. I would like to watch a different kind of Hollywood movie. I have a big collection of DVD program.

    We used to have over 500 – 800 dvds over 95% of them are completely ruined… are two year old used them to skate across our wooden floor
