I can’t believe my eye!

Somehow, in his sleep, my one year old managed to gouge me in the eye with his pointy little finger. Needless to say, a trip to the doctor was in order where he gave me this oh so lovely patch to wear. I didn’t want to see out of that eye anyway…..

My daughter did the exact same thing when she was one!  And I had glasses on when she did it!

Ouch. Even when my then-two-year-old poked me in the eye with a fork, I didn’t have to deal with that. My sympathies.

My now 3 year old poked me in the eye with his grimy little finger when he was 6 mos old.  It hurt, but it wasn’t too terrible until about 2 hours later so I figured I’d just go to sleep and it’d heal while I was sleeping.  WRONG!  Woke up at 3 AM with a VERY angry eye.  Ended up having to go to the ER, I was home alone with the baby, so I had to wake him up and take him with me.  I get there and nurses come running over like “What’s wrong with the baby!?!?” because obviously if you come into the ER at 3 am with an infant there has to be a serious problem with it, but once they actually looked at *me* they saw why I was there.

They treated me then, but said if it got worse I had to go back, so I ended up having to go back to the ER later in the day, they had to call an emergency opthamologist to come to the hospital, he got a speeding ticket on the way (I went to court with him to fight it later).  Ended up with an MSRA infection in my eye.  Had to alternate between 2 different antibiotics and a steroid drop every other hour (even when I was sleeping) for days, and SEVERAL trips to the opthamologist (at $20 copay each) for weeks.  Finally, I ended up with corneal erosions for a while afterwards, my eye kept healing to my eyelid instead of itself, they had to do a procedure with needles (I won’t go into more detail) on my eye, then I had to wear a contact lens for a week and put this goopy eye goo in it every night.

It took about 6 months before it was entirely healed.  I have a scar now about 1 mm away from my field of vision, if he’d got me 1 mm higher, my vision would be permanently blurred by the scar.

Burned through the whole $500 I had put in the health care savings account by the end of February that year…

My eye doctor said he thinks all mothers should be required to wear goggles around their infants until they’re at least 4 years old.

I kept the left over eye drops just in case…

My now-22-year-old did that to my husband (when he was 4 yrs old)… scratched the cornea! Then loudly announced in the ophthalmologist waiting room “I punched my Daddy in the EYE!”

MY daughter poked me in the eye one morning when she was 1– had to go tot he ER i couldn’t open it it hurt so bad turns out she took a nice little chunk out of my cornea but i guess it came to be a good day, the eye drops they wanted to use so they can look at it was basically like liquid cocaine for your eye so they asked if i was prego because they couldn’t use them if i was so they asked for the date of my last period well all of a sudden i realized i didn’t remember the last 2 months so they gave me a test and yup i was, that is how we found out about my son.

You poor thing.  Yeah, nobody ever talks about the mindless violence you endure being a parent.  Not only do you get hurt, but no one gives a crap, especially the kid.

Makes me want to post a pic of the scar on my face. My son pegged me with a headless barbi w/ a cracked neck, from the 2nd story – I was on the couch downstairs. At 1st I thought it went clean through, but I got lucky. I now have barbi PTSD, TYVM.

I decided when my oldest was 1 that it’d be cool to paint her little fingernails.. Just after I finished she got all excited and started waving her hands getting my eye in the process.  The next day it was still all red, angry and felt like I had something in it.  So a trip to the ophthalmologist was in order.  She managed to give me a corneal abrasion. 2 days with an eye patch and I was all better.

My Son did this to my left eye…took a chunk out of my cornea and inner eyelid….had to be in the dark for 3 days.  Hubby called me Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez for weeks.
