I remember those days, my brother and his best friend decided they could make our little brother fly like an airplane… they both took a hand and a foot, stood facing each other and launched him in the air…..he flew for a few feet then commenced to hitting the concrete driveway and breaking his arm in two places….what an adventure! Mom was very upset!

Oh major ow. I’m surprised, actually, that my two haven’t managed to do something similar. I hope you stayed calm, Karole. I don’t know if I would have!

oh that poor baby, that looks painful!!! he didnt need a rod in there? that is a complete fracture of a load bearing bone, hopefully his age will help A LOT!

Cheese and Rice!!! That poor baby! I hope it healed well; considering the femur is a load-baring bone. Oh gosh…

Wow – such a serious break! I can’t believe a 2 year old did that to a 5 year old!

O.M.G. I know this child and he is the sweetest thing in the world. I can hardly look at his x-ray without shivering.

My god. This is a terrible break. Complete fracture of a load-bearing bone. Poor kid. I can only imagine how much pain he was in.

oh poor guy! When my oldest was 3, he fell and broke his leg in the same spot. Spiral fracture, right? Don’t worry, he’ll mend up just fine….its been 9 years and you’d never know my son broke his leg that badly. Good luck!

1st, as an RN I don’t believe this story. The is the toughest bone in the body is the femur. And, this is a severe fracture. Does your 5 year old weigh 500 pounds? Hard to believe a hospital bought this story that a 5 year old broke a 2 year old’s femur by jumping on him. Abuse is the leading cause of a femur fracture in a 2 year old.

Also hard to believe that this didn’t require surgery and traction.

    VERY suspicious. Very…

Really?! That’s the very first conclusion to which you jump? Children do get hurt in strange ways, I understand that it is part of the job of a medical professional to rule that out, but that doesn’t mean you can just assume that it could not happen in just the way the mom said. Shame on you, that’s not what this site is for!

it’s totally possible… my 2 year old nephew decided to climb on the roof of the plastic play-house, fell, & totally broke his arm… to top it off, once they took off the cast my sister didn’t make him keep his brace on & him & his 4 year old brother were chasing each other around, the 2 year old fell, & RE-broke his arm, this time even worse! poor kid… i felt so bad for him! he spent FOREVER in casts!

How do you know this didnt require surgery or traction? From an xray? Man, you must know everything! Thank god I’m a paramedic and not a know it all RN.

oh that poor boy. i broke my femur in highschool and it was beyond painful (almost as bad as giving birth) and can’t imagine being 5 and having to go through that.

Oh my goodness, poor thing!! Yikes! That’s awful. Last year my two year old managed to pull a fireplace down on top of his foot (it was at grandparents place, they had just bought it and not installed it properly yet), and fractured a bone in his foot. I felt so terrible for him, thankfully he was fine, didn’t even need a cast. God that looks bad though, poor babe.
