Just a wild guess-my toddler stepped on it, cracking the screen, making it completely useless. Ironically, my husband bought me the kindle right after she was born as a gift-i think we both honestly thought i’d have tons to time to read. SO DUMB!!!!

contact Amazon. They will replace it. My screen cracked and they sent me a new one free of charge

    • kittenpiles

They won't replace a K1 for free. Especially because it didn't break under normal use.

Same thing happened to me. I tell you…She found a way to definitely make me pay more attention to her.

  • nerwen_aldarion

Oh man! I love my Kindle. If this had happened to me you'd find me curled up on the floor sobbing like a baby.

  • sweptaway

She is so cute!! Love Grandmom XOXO

  • Karyn

Why would you leave your Kindle somewhere your toddler can step on it?

    • CaitlinK

Why is there always someone who just HAS to post a comment about what the parent should or should not have done? Totally unnecessary and counter to the entire point of this blog.

      • Zoey Mitchell

That's so true! It just ruins the site!

        • Christopher Mauro

Especially since the site even states that “The only unwelcome visitors are those who are here to be mean or judgmental or offer a parenting critique. This is not the place for you.”

You've never made a mistake? Or set something down for just a moment, then something bad happens? Maybe the lil girl found it on a bookshelf or table, played with it for a few minutes, then set it down and stepped on it. Accidents happen to EVERYONE, it's just the nature of humans!

  • Beanskank

She is soo cute! Reminds me of a red-headed Eloise. You can't possibly stay upset at her, can you???

  • Winter Song

I kind of understand the sentiment. Things like Kindles and guitars are expensive. Parents should know how curious little kids are and how quickly they can get into stuff. Of course if everyone was a bit more careful with their belongings there would be no need for this site, but some people look at these incidents as something that could have been prevented with a little common sense. Sure, my kid wrecked things I treasured, and I can also see the parents’ side of it too.

    Read? What’s that?

  • Danny – iPad Case Review

Haha. She looks so proud having crashed your Kindle.
Casio Gshock should start making G-Kindles. Shockproof and 200m water resistant. Sweet.

    • purplecow_403

Lol yes! Like the Fisher-Price kidproof cameras, they need to put a covering like that on the Kindle

  • Jenilee Blonigen

It only takes like 2.3 seconds for a kid to ruin something. And who on Earth said she left it on the floor? Kids are notorious for climbing very high and very fast to get to something they KNOW they aren’t supposed to have. Just saying.

hahah look at her proud smile! 🙂 sorry about your kindle.. not like you had time for it anyway right?! 😉
